To carry on with the communication apps that I discovered, the next one I found useful was TalkAssist. This is text to speech software that is freely available. It seems like a fairly basic program when comparing it to others like Proloquotogo, but as a free app it's hard to argue with its utility. The next app I found was Hidden Curriculum for Kids which is a scenario based app which explains the hidden social cues that are normally taken for granted in social setting. It is geared towards children and adults with autism who may struggle in this area.
The last app I discovered is called Living Safely, once again designed for individuals with autism. Living Safely provides self-paced learning on 27 safety skills for individuals with autism and developmental disabilities. Living Safely also uses the AbleLink Instructional Media Standard (AIMS) that provides step-by-step multimodal instruction using visual and auditory media. The cognitively accessible learning sessions include home and personal safety, strangers, and sun and cold-weather safety.
